Technology Update - Credit Monitoring
October 28, 2019
Dear DASD Families,
I am writing to follow up on the data breach that the district became aware of on October 11, 2019.
Though the information released did not include social security or credit card information, we understand the concern related to the breach of personally identifiable information. To help protect your information, DASD will be offering all currently-enrolled students and their parents/guardians a free one-year membership of Experian’s IdentityWorks. This product will provide you with superior identity detection and resolution of identity theft.
In the next 15 business days, you will receive written correspondence via US mail from DASD. There will be separate letters for each student membership and for each parent membership, so please do not disregard any letters. The letters will contain instructions and an activation code to set up your child’s and your free account.
Among other features, Experian IdentityWorks will monitor your credit, assist with identity restoration if needed and provide up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.
Since joining the DASD technology team in late September, I have been working diligently with our staff and service providers to review security procedures and protocols. We are continuing to upgrade our systems and make improvements to protect student and family data.
Thank you for your support in helping our district continue to be a safe and secure learning environment for our children. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
