Starting a new school and meeting new classmates can be intimidating to some. To help incoming freshman feel connected and included, DHS East has initiated a new Mentoring Program. Trained upperclassmen have been paired with incoming freshman with the goal of helpimg them navigate their new high school life.
During Move Up Day this past April, the upperclassmen met their their assigned freshmen and gave them tours of the building. They answered questions, and helped the incoming freshmen sign up for clubs and activities. Mentors will also meet with their groups at LMS later this month and again in August for a picnic to further strengthen those bonds.
On May 2, 2019, the mentors were trained by the CCIU and participated in team building exercises at Paradise Farms in East Bradford Township to help them prepare for the upcoming year.
