Downingtown Middle School Snack Procedure for Classrooms

Downingtown Middle School has a growing population of students with life threatening food allergies. It has become increasingly difficult for our staff to manage foods in our classrooms that contain peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, foods made on machinery which processed nuts at some point, and more. Proper cleaning and sanitizing of desks, chairs, etc. is also a concern when he have snacks in classrooms. Our number one goal is safety. Therefore, we are instituting a comprehensive list of approved snacks that are permitted in classrooms who have a designated snack time. Please adhere to this list for any and all snacks that you give your child to bring to school.

Permitted Peanut & Tree Nut-Free Safe Snacks

  • Fresh Fruit
  • Packaged Fruit Cups
  • Fresh Vegetables
  • String Cheese
  • Soft Pretzels
  • Applesauce
  • Yogurt
  • Pepperidge Farms Brand Goldfish (Cheddar, Original, Parmesan, Pizza) in package
  • Sunkist Brand Fruit Snacks
