•  The new East Ward Community Playground is coming

playground This new playground will replace the "Castle" playground that was built 25 years ago by community members across the district.   Since it is located in a centralized location in the district, this playground is being constructed so all DASD children will have the opportunity to use it after school, on the weekends and during the summer/vacation breaks.

For that reason, we are reaching out to the community to help us make this a playground like no other.   Here children from across the district can play, meet new friends and try out some of the innovative attractions that will be constructed.

How can you help?   You can make a donation to the playground at www.eastwardplayground.com.   You can also join us as we say goodbye to the castle at an end of the school year block party.

Block Party Barbecue for the Playground
hosted by the Downingtown Parks and Recreation Commission and the Downingtown Area School District

The Block Party for the Playground will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 4 – 7:30 p.m. on Washington Ave., in front of East Ward Elementary.   There will be food, fun, dancing, games and more!

Have you ever danced the Macarena, hustle or other line dance with your child? Here is your opportunity.   Come to the block party and have a great time dancing with your kids and enjoying a barbecue of chicken, ribs, corn on the cob and more. There will be games, music from the 80's and 90's and a chance for your children to play on the Castle playground one more time.   We're closing down Washington Ave. in front of the school for this great event. Bring your picnic blanket and a lawn chair to stretch out on the green in front of the school and get ready to boogie.

We offer single and family tickets and we expect them to go quickly, so please click here to join in on the fun.
