Downingtown Area School District is thrilled to announce that William Pan, a senior at Downingtown High School East, has been selected as a prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholar.
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. Scholars are selected based on their superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character, and involvement in community and school activities.
William is president of the DHSE Mathematics Club, coach of the Lionville Middle School MATHCOUNTS team, a four-time American Invitational Mathematics Examination qualifier and an AMC Distinguished Honor Roll Recipient. He is varsity co-captain of the DHSE Academic Team (Grade 9-12) and is a member of the school’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club.
William was a national finalist in the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad, a first-place award winner in the PA SAR Knight Essay Contest, and a silver medalist in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. He is a member of the DHSE vocal ensemble and has been selected as a member of PMEA District 12 Choir. His design was selected for the Class of 2023 Senior Mantle and he painted the mural in the DHSE Physics Department. He is also a 2023 National Merit Finalist.
