Downingtown Area School District has spent several years investigating how to realize healthier school start times for our students. The district administration is considering a 20-minute shift in school start times for all K-12 students beginning in the 2024-2025 school year*.
Students, staff, families and community members are invited to attend a community forum with district leadership to learn more about the 20-minute proposal. The evening will include a presentation on healthy sleep practices from Penn Medicine physician and sleep expert Indira Gurubhagavatula, MD, MPH, as well as an opportunity to provide your thoughts, questions and concerns prior to a potential board vote on April 12. Your feedback will be shared with all board members.

*The original post mentioned the implementation of a 20-minute shift beginning in Fall 2023. After receiving additional feedback from stakeholders, administration presented a proposal to make the change at the start of the 2024-25 school year during the March 8, 2023 School Board Meeting.
