Downingtown Area School District students are making waves in STEM education! Downingtown Middle School recently claimed the title of Future City National Champion, while Lionville Middle School earned top honors as the 2024 Philadelphia Regional Future City Champion.

The Future City competition challenges middle school students to imagine, design, and build cities of the future. This year’s theme asked teams to design a floating city and present two innovative solutions for how their city operates while keeping its citizens healthy and safe.

Competing against schools from across the country, the Downingtown Middle School team impressed the judges with their creativity, engineering skills, and commitment to sustainability. Their innovative solutions, thoughtful design, and collaborative teamwork earned them the national title during the championship event held in Washington, D.C.

This historic win marks the first time ever that a DASD team has won the Future City National Championship.

Congratulations to the talented students, teachers, and mentors who made this incredible achievement possible!
