The Downingtown Area School District (DASD) Board of School Directors approved the appointment of three school administrators on May 10, 2023.

Dr. Matt Barr was named the next principal of Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center, and Lauren Raines and Jarvin Williams were named assistant principals of Downingtown High School West. All three are anticipated to assume their new roles on July 1, 2023.

Dr. Barr steps into his new position after serving as an assistant principal at Downingtown High School West for six years. Before becoming an administrator, he was a member of the school’s special education department, working as an emotional support teacher within the district’s SAILS program, and acting as the building leader for the department.

Dr. Barr earned his Bachelor’s degree from West Chester University, and his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and his K-12 Principal’s Certification from Immaculata University.

Raines joins DASD from Radnor Township School District, where she has been an assistant principal at Radnor High School since 2021. Prior to this position, she served as a school counselor and science teacher at Radnor Middle School since joining the district in 2006.

Raines holds a Bachelor of Science in Science Education from East Carolina University, a Master's Degree in Secondary and Post-Secondary Counseling and Psychology from West Chester University and a Certification in Educational Leadership from Cabrini College.

Williams joins DASD from Coatesville Area School District, where he has served as an assistant principal at Coatesville Area Senior High School since 2019. Prior to this position, he served Christina School District as Dean of Students and Instructional Coach at Bayard Middle School, and as a middle school mathematics teacher at Kirk Middle School and Gauger Middle School.

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with a concentration in Mathematics, from Wesley College and earned a master’s degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University.

“I am excited to welcome the three new administrators to the Downingtown team,” Superintendent Dr. Robert O’Donnell said. “Dr. Barr, Ms. Raines and Mr. Williams each bring a wealth of experience and a passion for education that I am confident will serve our students well in the coming years.”
