Dr. Robert Reed

Assistant Superintendent, Operations & Programs

Prior to joining the Downingtown Area School District, Dr. Reed’s early career began at the Garnet Valley School District where he was a biology and environmental science teacher, athletic coach, class sponsor, and Dean of Students. After coming to DASD to serve as Assistant Principal at Lionville Middle School in 2003, Dr. Reed was asked two years later to serve as Interim Principal at LMS before moving to Shamona Creek Elementary School as Principal. He was Principal at Shamona Creek Elementary for two years before accepting the Director of K-12 Educational Programs position at Central Office. He served in that role for five and half years before being named as Assistant Superintendent, K-12 Educational Programs in 2016, and then progressing to his current role as Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Programs in 2019.

Dr. Reed’s educational background and credentials include a BSED in Biology and an MA in Physical Science from West Chester University, a principal’s certification, Letter of Eligibility and Doctorate from Immaculata University.

In his spare time, Dr. Reed enjoys spending time with his family (wife, two sons, and a daughter), exercising, traveling, playing golf, being outdoors, learning and experiencing new things, and all Philadelphia sports teams.
