Dr. Lonardi has been Superintendent of the Downingtown Area School District since July 2017.

Dr. Lonardi began her educational career teaching Health/Physical Education in the Camp Hill Jr./Sr. High School. After teaching for a few years, she was named assistant principal and later became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the same district. In 1996, she became Assistant Superintendent in the West York Area School District and two years later, became theDistrict’s superintendent; a role she held for 19 years.

Dr. Lonardi received her Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University in Educational Administration. She received her M.S. in Human Performance/Motor Control from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Additionally, she was an adjunct professorat both York College of Pennsylvania and the Harrisburg Campus of Penn State University where she taught graduate classes in the Educational Leadership program.

In 2014, Dr. Lonardi was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA) “Superintendent of the Year” award. The award, based primarily on innovative leadership and academic achievement, is selected yearly bysuperintendents around the state. Dr. Lonardi also served as the president of the state superintendents’ organization (PASA) and on the Governing Board of the national superintendents’ association (AASA).For many year, Dr. Lonardi also represented superintendents on the PIAA Governing Board. Dr. Lonardi is a frequent presenter throughout the state on topics of educational importance.
