Laura Daniels

Laura Daniels is one of the German teachers at the Downingtown STEM Academy. Germany and the German language have been a part of her life since high school, when she lived abroad as an exchange student in Potsdam for the duration of her junior year. During her time as an undergrad, Laura spent another half year in Berlin through a program run by Duke University.

She graduated with a B.A. in German from Drew University in 2001, and immediately returned to Berlin for another two and a half years on a fellowship from DAAD (Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst), studying dialect development in eastern and western Berlin since the Reunification, and attending Humboldt Universität. Upon returning to America, Laura began pursuing her teaching certification at West Chester University, and has been part of DASD since the beginning of her teaching career in 2005.

She has taught German at Lionville Middle School for the majority of that time, and in 2010 completed her M. Ed. degree at WCU. At the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, Frau Daniels transferred to the STEM Academy, and couldn’t be happier. Frau Daniels currently teaches part-time at STEM, spending the remainder of her waking hours with her two small children and husband.
