Michael J. Whiteley

 Mr. Whiteley has been a teacher for the Downingtown Area School District since 1999. After graduating with honors from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, he attained a Master of Instructional Leadership degree from Penn State University. Mr. Whiteley earned top honors and was awarded the Overall Achievement Award for his master’s program at Penn State. His thesis was published, Teacher Leadership in the 21st Century. In addition to these accomplishments, Mr. Whiteley holds a K-12 Principal Certification from the state of Pennsylvania. He has valued experience as a primary, intermediate, and adolescent level educator.  Mr. Whiteley was previously a nominee for the Citadel Heart of Learning award.  Mr. Whiteley spent nine years teaching at Brandywine Wallace Elementary and seven years at Springton Manor Elementary.  After valuable experience at Downingtown East High School Mr. Whiteley joined the Uwchlan Hills faculty.  He is proud to begin his twenty-third year of teaching for the Downingtown Area School District.  He is so excited to work with such talented staff, hard-working students, and supportive parents.  

    In his spare time, Mr. Whiteley volunteers at his church. He is also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Sixers fan. When he is not teaching, learning, serving, and leading, Mr. Whiteley enjoys spending time with his two sons and his wife Natalie at their home in Uwchlan Township.
