Mrs. Lauren Herron

Lauren Herron is a Spanish teacher at Downgintwon High School East.  She graduated from Penn State University with an undergraduate degree in English education in 2007.  Having a strong interest in Spanish culture, she spent a semester studying in Alicante, Spain.  Upon her return to the United States, she furthered her foreign language studies through an immersive program at Middlebury College in Vermont.  After working as a long term substitute for DASD and then for a short time as an interpreter for the Avon Grove School District, Lauren returned to teaching in Downingtown in 2008.  She then continued her studies and earned a Master's degree in Hispanic Studies from Villanova University in 2011. 

In addition to teaching Spanish, Lauren is also the World Language curriculum leader for the Downingtown Area School District.  In this role, Lauren has worked extensively with district administrators to research new initiatives and help inform decisions for the language program, led professional development sessions for the department, written curriculum and served as an instructional coach.
