Mr. Ryan A. McLaughlin

Mr. McLaughlin is an 8th grade American History teacher and leader of Team 8B at Downingtown Middle School. In his time here, he has taught 7th and 8th grade English and Mathematics as well as 6th grade Social Studies. Mr. McLaughlin holds certifications in Educational Administration, Elementary Education, middle level Social Studies, Science, English and Mathematics. In addition to teaching, he is the head coach of the Boys' Soccer team and serves as one of two Ski and Snowboard Club advisors. Mr. McLaughlin has served on the Professional Development Committee at the district level and the Data Team at the building level.

Mr. McLaughlin is a graduate of Downingtown Senior High School. He attended Millersville University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. He completed his Master's Degree in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University and received his Principal's Certificate in Educational Leadership from Pennsylvania State University.

Mr. McLaughlin is the personification of a family man. He and his wife have six children (3 boys and 3 girls) and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of another little girl (Christmas 2014). Mr. McLaughlin and his family reside locally in a home that he designed and built in keeping with early American architecture from this area. In addition to being a retired, semi-professional soccer player, he is an accomplished handyman, a mechanic and a novice woodworker. He enjoys studying historical literature and early American architecture, skiing and snowboarding, off-road (trail) driving, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
