Mr. Ryan A. McLaughlin

Mr. McLaughlin is an 8th grade American History teacher and leader of Team 8B at Downingtown Middle School. In his time here, he has taught 7th and 8th grade English and Mathematics as well as 6th and 7th grade Social Studies. Mr. McLaughlin holds certifications in Educational Administration, Elementary Education, middle-level Social Studies, Science, English, and Mathematics. In addition to teaching, he is the head coach of DMS Boys' Soccer, assistant coach of DMS Track, and serves as one of two Ski and Snowboard Club advisors. Mr. McLaughlin has previously served on DASD's Professional Development Committee and building-level Data Team.

Mr. McLaughlin is a graduate of Downingtown Senior High School. He attended Millersville University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. He completed his Master's Degree in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University and received his Principal's Certificate in Educational Leadership from Pennsylvania State University.

When Mr. McLaughlin is not teaching, he is enjoying hiking, camping, fishing, boating, skiing/snowboarding, playing games, watching movies, and sharing meals with his family. He enjoys reading and studying Philosophy, Sociology, Psychology, Theology, Government, and American History. He and his family reside locally in a home that he designed and built in keeping with early American architecture characteristic of Southeastern Pennsylvania. In addition to being a retired, semi-professional soccer player, he is an accomplished handyman, a mechanic, a welder/fabricator, and a woodworker.
