Mrs. Christine Burgess


Christy Burgess has worked as a Learning Support Teacher at Downingtown Middle School since 2011. Her special education teaching career began with the Chester County Intermediate Unit in 1999 where she taught middle school emotional support. After relocating to Maryland in 2001, she was employed by the Montgomery County and Harford County school systems as an elementary level special educator. Throughout her teaching career, Christy has volunteered with Special Olympics, assisted with curriculum development, and instructed after school math enrichment programs.

In 1998, Mrs. Burgess obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education degree at West Chester University where she majored in Special Education. She completed her Master in Education degree with a focus on Elementary Reading and Literacy in 2006 with Walden University. She will be certified to teach Wilson Reading System in spring 2015. Christy holds certifications in the following areas: Special Education K-12, Middle School Math 7-9, and Middle School English 7-9.
