Mrs. Beth Buglio
Beth Buglio teaches Japanese I, II, III, IV at Downingtown East and Downingtown West. Buglio-sensei has served as a lead teacher in J-LEAP, a program administered by the Japan Foundation and the Laurasian Institution. J-LEAP chooses teachers in the U.S. and sends young, native-speaker assistant teachers from Japan to team-teach with them for two years. Kizuna Across Cultures (KAC) has twice picked Buglio-sensei’s program to be part of a six-month, online, intercultural exchange. Every week, through KAC Global Classmates, her Japanese I and III students exchanged videos and messages with class in Nagano and Fukushima, Japan. Buglio-sensei learned Japanese as a Rotary Exchange student in Fukushima-ken. Before her tie to Japan grew into a second career, she taught learning support, emotional support, and deaf classes in southeastern PA.
