Stephanie G. Heavens
Stephanie Heavens has been an elementary music teacher and choral director for sixteen years. She joined the Downingtown Area School District in 2010 as the long term classroom music substitute at Springton Manor. The following year she, became the classroom music teacher and choral director at Brandywine Wallace. Prior to her tenure in Downingtown, Stephanie taught in the West Chester Area SD from 1996 until the birth of her daughter in 2004. She was the elementary classroom music teacher and choral director at Hillsdale Elementary, and was the four time director of the WCASD's 5th grade Honors Chorus. In 2000, Stephanie had the honor of directing the Honors Chorus on the steps of the Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg. In addition to teaching, Stephanie is also a professional classical singer, and is in demand as a soloist in the Delaware Valley and Lehigh Valley performing in concert recitals and with professional orchestras, most recently at the Bascilica of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. In 2014 she had her debut as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, performing John Rutter's "Requiem." She is also a professional staff singer and soprano soloist at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Stephanie is a proud 1991 graduate of the original Downingtown High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Voice and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education graduating with Honors from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. She also is a candidate for a Master's of Music in Applied Voice from West Chester University.
