• 2019-2020 Course Selection Information

Parents and students are cordially invited to Downingtown West High School on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 for our Course Selection Night. This event is for students currently in grades 8, 9, 10 and 11. This program will provide information about courses for next year. During the evening, students and parents will have the opportunity to speak with administrators, teachers, and counselors about the course selection process.

For parents of 8th grade students, your evening will begin with an informational presentation in the Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. You will then transition to the Cafeteria to meet with representatives from each curricular department and counselors who will be able to answer individual questions about courses.

For parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students, your evening will begin with informational sessions in the Cafeteria at 6:30 pm. At that time, you and your child will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from each curricular department as well as counselors who are available to answer individual questions about courses.

In preparation for Course Selection, I encourage you to review the 2019-2020 Program of Study on the Downingtown West High School website at http://www.dasd.org/Domain/22. Once you access the DHSW website, look under the “Quick Links” section on the left-hand margin for the Course Selection Information link where you will find the 2019-2020 Program of Study and other related information. If you do not have access to the Internet and/or would like to receive a hard copy of this information, please call our Counseling Office for assistance.

In addition, take some time to visit your Home Access Center (Parent Portal for eSchoolPlus) account and review/update all your contact information: address, phone numbers, and email addresses. This will ensure that you are receiving accurate information regarding upcoming events such as college representative visits to West, scholarship opportunities, and also SAT and ACT test dates.

All course selections for the 2019-2020 school year will be completed online through the Home Access Center, which can be accessed through the DASD website, www.dasd.org or by going directly to Home Access Center (parent portal for eSchoolPlus): http://www.dasd.org/hac. After you enter your user name and password, click “Login”.  Should you be unable to login or you have forgotten your password, simply click “Forgot my username or password”. You will be prompted to enter either your username or your email address (*be sure to enter the email address we have on file). Click “Submit” to be emailed a link to reset your password.

Course selection sheets will be distributed to students on January 31, 2019.  They can also be viewed on the Downingtown West High School website, www.dasd.org/Domain/22, by following the Course Selection Information page under the “Quick Links” section. All students must complete this online process between February 4, 2019 and February 11, 2019. Counselors and teachers will be available to meet with students during this timeframe to guide them along in the course selection process.

We look forward to seeing you on January 22nd as we begin the scheduling process for the 2019-2020 school year. If you have questions, please feel free to call the Counseling office (610-269-4400 ext. 7505 or ext. 7536).
