2020-2021 Course Selection Information
Parents and students are cordially invited to Downingtown West High School on Thursday, January 23, 2020 for our Course Selection Night. This event is for students currently in grades 8, 9, 10 and 11. Our program will provide information about courses for next year. During the evening, students and parents will be given the opportunity to speak with administrators, teachers, and counselors about the course selection process.
For parents of 8th grade students, your evening will begin with an informational presentation in the Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. You will then transition to the Cafeteria to meet with representatives from each curricular department and counselors who will be able to answer individual questions about courses.
For parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students, your evening will begin with informational sessions in the Cafeteria at 6:30pm. At that time you and your child will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from each curricular department as well as counselors who are available to answer individual questions about courses.
In preparation for Course Selection, I encourage you to review the 2020-2021 Program of Study on the Downingtown West High School website at http://www.dasd.org/Domain/22. Once you access the DHSW website, look under the “Quick Links” section on the left-hand margin for the Course Selection Information link where you will find the 2020-2021 Program of Study and other related information. If you do not have access to the Internet and/or would like to receive a hard copy of this information, please call our Counseling Office for assistance.
All course selections for the 2020-21 school year will be completed on-line through the Student Portal using the student login. This portal may be accessed by the students on the West Homepage by selecting the yellow student tab at the top of the page and then the Infinite Campus Student Portal on the left hand side of the page. Please be reminded that students will login to Infinite Campus using the single sign on (SSO) using their network username and password. If students are still unable to login to the Student Portal:
1) Email: email@example.com or 2) call the Main Office 610-269-4400 ext. 7599. 8th grade parents/students should call the Downingtown Middle School Main Office at 610-518-0685 ext. 2000 or ext. 2001, if needing additional help. All students must complete this on-line process between February 3, 2020 and February 11, 2020. Counselors will meet with students after this time period to discuss their course selections. Middle School counselors will be working with the 8th grade students to complete the scheduling process.
Course selection forms will be distributed to students on January 31, 2020. They can also be viewed on the Downingtown West High School website, www.dasd.org/Domain/22, by following the Course Selection Information page under the “Helpful Links” section. All students must complete this online process between February 3, 2020 and February 11, 2020. Counselors and teachers will be available to meet with students during this time frame to guide them in the course selection process.
