Summer School

The Downingtown Area School District offers both original and recovery credit courses over the summer.

Information about the 2026 summer school sessions will be posted here by Monday, March 2, 2026.

Recovery Credit

he Downingtown Area School District offers a recovery credit program that includes coursework for a previously failed high school course. Recovery credit courses are reported on the official transcript and the grades are calculated into the student’s grade point average (GPA). Courses are aligned to the DASD curriculum and PA Core Standards.

Recovery credit courses are self-paced in Schoology over the four week period. A PA-certified teacher will be available in person and via Google Team to offer tutoring assistance.

High school recovery credit courses will be offered at Downingtown West High School in June and July from 9:00 - 11:00 am Monday-Thursday. Students who cannot attend in person during this time can also connect with their teachers via Google Teams. Both in-person attendance and Google Teams attendance are optional.

Original Credit

The Downingtown Area School District offers an original credit program for students to take courses for the first time. Original credit courses include accelerated coursework that cover the same amount of material that students receive over the course of the school year. Original credit courses are reported on the official transcript and the grades are calculated into the student’s grade point average (GPA).

Original credit courses are both synchronous and asynchronous. Students will receive work on a Friday and have until the following Friday to complete it. Teachers also provide an optional daily schedule. There are optional Google Team times offered each week for mini-lessons and opportunities to answer questions. The Google Team sessions will be recorded.

Students taking a math or a world language course must take mandatory in-person exams during the summer session
