Full-Day Kindergarten Program

Our Kindergarten English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum combines three approaches to provide a comprehensive early literacy experience, integrating phonological awareness, phonics, and content-based reading.

• Heggerty Phonemic Awareness: A curriculum focused on building foundational phonological awareness skills such as rhyming, onset and rime, segmenting and blending phonemes, and manipulating sounds in words.

• Fundations: A multisensory, structured literacy program that supports foundational reading, spelling, and writing skills. It emphasizes the relationship between sounds and letters (phonics), letter formation, phonemic awareness, and high-frequency words.

• Wit & Wisdom: A comprehensive English Language Arts curriculum that fosters reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. It sets the foundation for deeper literacy comprehension by exploring complex texts, encouraging classroom discourse, and engaging students with detailed writing prompts.

Together, these programs ensure that students develop strong foundational literacy skills while cultivating a love of learning and critical thinking from an early age.

The Kindergarten math curriculum uses i-Ready to provide a structured and adaptive approach to developing foundational math skills. The curriculum is focused on building essential numeracy skills and conceptual understanding. In addition to building computational skills, the Kindergarten i-Ready curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, critical thinking, and reasoning. Students are encouraged to explain their thinking, solve problems in multiple ways, and apply math to real-world scenarios. Key topics include: number sense, addition and subtraction, geometry, and measurement and data.

Using Mystery Science, the Kindergarten science curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and engage young learners in hands-on, inquiry-based exploration. The interactive science lessons combine storytelling, videos, and simple experiments to help students understand key scientific concepts in an engaging and playful way, helping them build a lifelong interest in science while developing essential inquiry skills.

The  Kindergarten social studies curriculum introduces young learners to the world around them by exploring their communities, cultures, and basic civic concepts. The focus is on helping children understand their roles in various social contexts, from the classroom to their neighborhood and beyond, fostering a sense of identity, community, and responsibility.
