Never Forget: A Holocaust Survivor's Story

Never Forget: A Holocaust Survivor's Story

The Downingtown Area School District invites our community to take part in a powerful and meaningful virtual event: “Never Forget: A Holocaust Survivor’s Story” featuring Dr. Jack Wetter.

On Monday, May 11 at 6:00 PM, Dr. Wetter will share his personal story of survival, resilience, and reflection. Born in Brussels, Belgium during World War II, Dr. Wetter spent the first years of his life in hiding with his family as they navigated the dangers of Nazi occupation. His journey—from those early years in secrecy to building a life and career in the United States—offers a deeply moving perspective on history, perseverance, and the human spirit.

Join us virtually on Zoom and be part of this important conversation.

This program is an opportunity for students, families, educators, and community members to hear firsthand testimony that brings history to life in a way no textbook can. Dr. Wetter’s story not only honors the past, but also challenges us to reflect on our shared responsibility to stand against hatred, promote understanding, and build a more inclusive future.

As we continue to emphasize empathy, education, and belonging across DASD, this event serves as a reminder of the importance of listening to lived experiences and ensuring that the lessons of history are never forgotten.
