Student Relations & School Climate

Student Relations and School Climate Logo

Creating a school environment where everyone feels valued and respected is at the heart of DASD's mission. We are committed to fostering a culture of kindness, empathy, and mutual respect, where every student, teacher, and staff member feels a sense of belonging and is empowered to share their ideas and pursue their dreams.

In DASD, we believe that a positive school climate is built on understanding, compassion, and the belief that all individuals should feel safe and supported. Acts of kindness and respect strengthen our community, while hate, intimidation, and     intolerance have no place here.

Teachers, staff, and students all play an essential role in cultivating an atmosphere where everyone can thrive academically and socially. By modeling empathy and embracing the unique qualities that make us who we are, we can create a school environment where kindness and connection are central to everything we do.

Our mission is to ensure DASD fosters a culture of kindness, empathy, and respect, creating a supportive environment where every individual feels a sense of belonging. By prioritizing mental health, well-being, and connection, we aim to build a school community where students and staff can grow, flourish, and positively impact those around them, both within and beyond the DASD community.

Core Values

To nurture a positive and supportive environment, DASD is committed to fostering a culture of kindness, respect, and empathy. Acts of  bullying, or discrimination of any kind have no place in our schools or community. We strive to build a district where everyone feels valued and included, encouraging students and staff to be compassionate and respectful members of our "Good Neighbor" community. Students are encouraged to take an active role in their learning, guided by support, care, and accountability, as they grow into confident and capable individuals who contribute positively to their school and community.

Student Wellness

Student Life Mental Health

Students spend much of their time in school making decisions that shape both their academic journey and personal relationships. A positive and supportive environment plays a crucial role in promoting students' well-being, learning, and overall success. Schools that focus on kindness, understanding, and respect help create a sense of belonging and are better equipped to support the needs of every student. By fostering a caring and empathetic community, schools empower all students to grow, thrive, and achieve their unique goals.

Staff Wellness

Shelda Perry and Deborah Kearney

Promoting overall wellness is essential to creating a supportive school culture that prioritizes the well-being of staff. Focusing on strategies to build understanding, respect, and belonging fosters a positive working environment that enhances mental and emotional health. Encouraging kindness, empathy, and connection helps create a school climate where staff feel valued and equipped to handle everyday challenges, both in the classroom and the broader community.

Community Wellness

Hispanic Heritage Month at STEM

School communities dedicated to supporting the academic and wellness needs of their students must create opportunities that prioritize positive mental health and emotional well-being. By fostering kindness, respect, and understanding, schools can raise awareness, promote positive attitudes, and encourage behaviors that contribute to student success both in and outside of school. A caring and inclusive environment benefits not only students but the entire school community, enhancing well-being and strengthening connections for all.

Land Acknowledgement

Chester County is the ancestral home of the Lenape people, who occupied this land for thousands of years before Europeans arrived. As more and more European settlers began encroaching on their land, the Lenape people were systematically, and in many cases, forcefully removed. Eventually, most were driven as far west as Oklahoma, where they merged with the Cherokee Nation. Learn more about the Lenape people at Lenape-nation.org. We are privileged to live and work on the land we now occupy and wish to acknowledge the Lenape people and their land.
