Summer School

Recovery Credit 2022

The Downingtown Area School District is offering a recovery credit program that includes coursework for a previously failed high school course. Recovery credit courses are reported on the official transcript and the grades are calculated into the student’s grade point average (GPA). Courses are aligned to the DASD curriculum and PA Core Standards.

dates: June 27 - julY 22
  • Course format will be self-paced and asynchronous for all four weeks.
  • Tutoring will be available at DHSW from 9:00 am - 11:00 am or via Zoom from Downingtown teachers.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Our recovery credit courses are designed especially for high school students who did not pass a course initially but learned enough to make a complete repetition of the class unnecessary. Tutoring will be available from a DASD teacher to review concepts and to enhance understanding. However, teachers will not be conducting daily lessons. Students who require direct instruction should consider retaking the course during the school year.

Students can take up to two recovery credit courses during the summer session. If students successfully complete two courses during the session and have time to complete a third, parents can request this option at that time.

Students will be in class working at their own pace to master the material and to earn course credit.  A DASD teacher will be available in-person at Downingtown West and via Zoom each school day.

STUDENT-ATHLETES: Please check with your building NCAA-Coordinator before registering if you need eligibility.

FINAL GRADES: Grades for students taking a recovery credit course will be automatically added to Infinite Campus at the conclusion of the course. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that final course grades have been received by the Counseling Office.

For the 2022 Summer School session, there will be no cost for students to take the following credit recovery courses.
