Congratulations to Yohaan Damani of Downingtown Middle School, who claimed first place at the 2026 Chester County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, February 11. Yohaan secured his victory with the winning word “predecessor”. His win earns him the opportunity to represent Chester County this spring at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

Brooke Bainbridge of Lionville Middle School tied for third place, making DASD proud with strong performances from both students.

The competition brought together 41 top spellers from schools across Chester County, each having earned their spot by winning their school’s spelling bee. Together, they navigated more than 135 challenging words, demonstrating remarkable focus and skill.
