Brandywine Wallace first grade teacher Christi Barton has been named one of this year’s winners of the prestigious Citadel Heart of Learning Award. Selected from thousands of nominations across the Greater Philadelphia area, Christi’s recognition is a testament to her dedication and lasting impact on her students’ lives.

For 22 years, Christi has been a devoted educator, with 16 of those years spent shaping young minds at Brandywine Wallace Elementary. Her passion for teaching, commitment to her students, and unwavering support have made her a beloved member of the Brandywine Wallace family.

Shawn Wright, Principal of Brandywine Wallace Elementary, shared, “Mrs. Barton’s devotion to her students is unmatched, making her not only an exceptional teacher but also a guiding light in their educational journey.”

Each year, Citadel Credit Union honors outstanding teachers in the Greater Philadelphia area, including Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Lancaster, and Philadelphia counties, through the Citadel Heart of Learning Award. This year’s winners, including Christi, will receive a total of over $80,000 in grants and prizes, along with the treasured glass heart trophy, celebrating their extraordinary contributions to education.

What makes this award even more special is that the winners are chosen by community votes. The support Christi has received from parents, students, and fellow educators speaks to the profound impact she’s had on those around her.

Congratulations, Christi Barton, on this well-deserved recognition!
