On August 9, 2017, As part of its “Safe Schools” effort, the Downingtown Area School District held its 5th annual Safe Schools Summit with local law enforcement officials. The summit helps establish organizational readiness to minimize the adverse impact any extreme event might have on the health and safety of our students and staff. Emergency preparedness is achieved by planning, training, equipping, and testing our emergency plan’s effectiveness with drills and exercises. Preparedness is part of a process, a sequence of learning, plan development, training, drills and critiques. The district does not do this alone; we learn and develop our emergency responses alongside our community first-responders. With their assistance, we identify potential crisis situations and develop emergency responses. Click on the link to review the Pipeline Safety Slides.
