Alyssa Brouse

Alyssa is the Prevention Specialist at Downingtown Middle School. In this role, Alyssa provides individual support to students at the school as well as connecting them with behavioral health supports in the community. Working in mental health since 2014, Alyssa has filled a variety of roles including working at in-patient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient therapy settings, child welfare, and various schools. Throughout her work trajectory, she has developed strong clinical skills that include assessing individuals and family systems, identifying the best intervention and being a major component in implementing a creative and strengths-based approach. Alyssa is passionate about prevention and wellness and has done a lot of work developing and facilitating social emotional learning curriculum in prior school roles.  

A native of Western Massachusetts, Alyssa completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She then continued on to receive a certificate in Addiction Counseling and then her Master of Social Work Degree, both from Westfield State University in Massachusetts. Alyssa is a Licensed Social Worker, soon to be clinically licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Alyssa received her Home and School Visitor Certification from Bryn Mawr College. Outside of work, you can find Alyssa enjoying time outdoors hiking, kayaking, water-skiing, or walking her dog, Juno.
