Testing (PSAT, SAT, ACT)

Students can take the new SAT starting March 2016. It will replace the current SAT and be offered throughout the school year. Most students in the class of 2017 will take the new SAT. So will students in the class of 2018 and later. Students often take the SAT in the spring of 11th grade and again in the fall of 12th grade. Read about the specific changes coming to the SAT here.
Khan Academy is partnering with the College Board so that all students who want to go to college can prepare for the SAT at their own pace, at no cost. The College Board is redesigning the SAT for 2016, and working with Khan Academy to make free, world-class prep materials. Informing and helping to prepare your high school students for the SAT is vital. By spring 2015, you will have access to state-of-the-art, interactive learning tools that give you in-depth practice and help you diagnose your gaps. All of this will be created through a close collaboration with the College Board specifically for the redesigned SAT. In the meantime, students that are taking the SAT in 2014/2015 can start practicing today with hundreds of previously unreleased Math, Reading, and Writing questions from the real SATs and more than 200 videos that show step-by-step solutions to each question at www.khanacademy.org/sat.

    SAT Subject Tests
Subject Tests are hour-long, content-based tests that allow you to showcase achievement in specific subject areas where you excel. These are the only national admission tests where you choose the tests that best showcase your achievements and interests. SAT Subject Tests may be part of the application process for highly selective colleges. For our students interested in taking the Math Level 2, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics subject tests, we recommend registering for the Math Level 2 and/or Biology tests in spring of 11th grade, and Chemistry and/or Physics in fall of 12th grade, in order to align with the IB curriculum.
