Regina Gaffney has been employed as the Prevention Specialist for Lionville Middle School since 2006. In her role as Prevention Specialist, Regina provides assessment and coordination of school-based and community behavioral and mental health resources. She also serves as an advisor for the BSU, supports the Student Assistance Team and is a member of the DASD Cultural Equity Team.
Regina has been an advocate for children and families since 1987. Prior to coming to DASD, Regina worked as a School Caseworker for the West Chester Area School District from 1999-2006. She supported students and families in need of financial assistance, mental health support and support for school attendance. She also has experience as an Adoption and Foster Care Caseworker for the Chester County Department of Children, Youth & Families. In addition, she spent several years as a Caseworker for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chester County, where she also served as the Executive Director.
She earned her master's degree in social work (MSW) from Widener University in August 2020 and her Home & School Visitor (HSV) certification in December 2020. She also attended West Chester University and earned a Master of Science Degree in Administration with a Concentration in Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work.
Regina is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), School Social Work Association of America and Pennsylvania Association of Student Assistance Professionals.
Anyone who meets Regina will quickly learn that she believes her greatest accomplishments are her son, Colin and her daughter, Lauryn.
