Student Teacher Placements

  • In order to meet the needs of the many Universities/Colleges, student teacher placement requests must be sent to the Assistant Superintendent's Office, K-12 Educational Programs as follows:

    • From September 10th to November 15th for Spring semester placements

    • From February 18th to May 1st for Fall semester placements
     

    To be considered for a student teaching placement in the Downingtown Area School District, please ask the student teacher coordinator at your University to submit the materials listed below to:

    (Please send/email all required materials in one packet/email)

    • A written request for placement from your University noting the desired dates and specific grade level and/or subject area for placement
    • A resume
    • An unofficial transcript reflecting all university coursework
    • Evidence of a negative TB test
    • Act 34 PA Criminal History Clearance, Act 114 FBI Fingerprint Clearance and Act 151 PA Child Abuse Clearance
    • Any other supporting documentation you feel will be helpful in introducing yourself to the district

    Due to the high volume of requests we receive, please be patient while students’ materials are processed for consideration. Submission of materials for student teaching does not guarantee a placement. Confirmation will be sent to the University Coordinator with your student teaching placement information.

    Observation requests are to be made directly to the individual schools. School Psychologist internship requests are to be made to the Pupil Services Department.
